The semi-arid and Desertification in Brazil

Abstract

The text presents some of the aspects of the geoenvironmental complexity of northeastern Brazil, in the context of the semi-arid regional conditions for the desertification as a consequence of environmental degradation. To do so, were discussed and analyzed qualitative and quantitative data about the following themes, which compete for the scope of work: the tropics and the semi-arid Northeast Brazil; Geo-environmental problems in the Northeast dry and relationship society and nature; The Caatinga Biome and its Ecoregions; and, New institutional proposition in the treatment of the Northeast semi-arid Areas Susceptible to Desertification (ASD's).
