Abstract

This paper presents considerations concerning the influence of the biophysical environment (climate, rocks, soils, water, vegetation and animals) in the development and welfare of human being. To do this, searches through theoretical considerations and ideas of authors of ecology, geography, physics and economy regarding the nature and how the external elements to the human being condition interact and influence the development process. There is a relationship between physical elements and psychological, biological and social and cultural elements, and from this relationship may become clearer the definition of quality of life and well-being.
